What it is for
Treats and prevents vitamin D deficiency, which is very common in India.
How to take it
Weekly sachets or capsules (60,000 IU) are taken once a week with a meal that has some fat, for the number of weeks the doctor advises. Daily doses are taken after food.
Common side effects
- Usually none at advised doses.
Call your doctor if
- Excess thirst, passing a lot of urine, vomiting or confusion (signs of too much vitamin D).
Take care
Do not take high-dose weekly vitamin D for months without a doctor's plan and a blood test.
From our clinic: Sunlight on the arms and face for 15 to 20 minutes between 11 am and 2 pm, a few times a week, also helps.
