About Sacubitril with valsartan
Medically reviewed by Dr Khizer Hussain Junaidy, MD Pharmacology, Diabetologist & Bariatric Physician, on 23 Oct 2026.
What it is for
Treats heart failure. It reduces strain on the heart and lowers the chance of hospital admission.
How to take it
Take it twice a day. The dose is increased slowly. If you were on an ACE inhibitor (like ramipril or enalapril), it must be stopped 36 hours before starting this.
Common side effects
- Low BP with dizziness.
- High potassium.
- Cough is uncommon.
Call your doctor if
- Swelling of the face, lips or tongue.
- Fainting or very low BP.
- Pregnancy.
Take care
Never take together with an ACE inhibitor. It already contains valsartan, so do not take telmisartan, losartan, olmesartan or other BP tablets of this type with it. Tell the doctor if you ever had swelling of the face, lips or tongue from any medicine. Avoid regular painkillers like diclofenac or ibuprofen. Not for use in pregnancy.
From our clinic: Weigh yourself daily. A gain of 2 kg in 3 days should be reported to the doctor.
